Korea trip with NA and DL from October 31 to October 7. We extended our stay in Seoul until October 14. Jeju island, Busan, Nami island and Seoul are the main three places that we explored.
Jeju island has been known for three things in abundance, call Samda. The three abundances of Jeju are stones, wind and women. It is renowned for its fortunate absence of three things: no stealing, no begging and no locking of doors. We visited and took photos of Yongyeon Lake, a lake located 200m east of Yongduam Rock. It is where saltwater and freshwater meet, and the scenery created by dense forests, rocky outcrops and rocks in the water is very beautiful. We took sunset photos at Yongduam Rock located in the south of Jeju Island. This is a masterpiece created by nature, by tirelessly beating the waves and blowing strong winds into the rocks over thousands of years. The rock is called Dragon Head because from afar, the rock looks like the image of a dragon's head rising to catch the waves.
The New 7 Wonders organization selected Seongsan Ilchulbong Peak at Jeju Island as one of the new natural wonders of the world. Seongsan Ilchulbong Peak rose from the sea floor after a volcanic eruption more than 100,000 years ago. Located at the eastern tip of Jeju Island, Seongsan Ilchulbong Peak is a majestic volcanic crater. The crater is approximately 600m in diameter and 90m deep. With 99 sharp rocks surrounding the crater, it looks like a giant crown. While the southeast and north sides are cliffs, the northwest side of the mountain is a grassy slope that connects to Seongsan Village. The summit is also a great place for hiking or horseback riding.
Seongeup Folk Village or Jeju Folk Village on Jeju Island is famous with Jeju architecture featuring walls made of volcanic rock and roofs thatched with dried grass. Seongeup Folk Village is a living museum that has been continually inhabited for around 600 years, offering a glimpse into pre-modern Korean life.
Before leaving Jeju island for Busan, we visited Daepo Jusangjeolli Cliff and just in time to photoshoot the sunset over the cliff. Daepo Jusangjeolli Cliff is a spectacular volcanic rock formation on the southern coast of Jeju Island. The cliffs are known for their distinctive hexagonal-shaped black columns, a geological formation called columnar jointing; it is a popular tourist attraction.
